การเปรียบเทียบขั้นสุด
การเปรียบเทียบขั้นสุด เช่น ดีที่สุด ชั่วช้าที่สุด เลวที่สุด งามที่สุด หล่อสุด ๆ จนที่สุด มีโครงสร้างตรงกับภาษาอังกฤษว่า the.................est, the most…………………. เป็นการเปรียบเทียบของมากกว่าสองสิ่งขึ้นไป ในบางกรณีจะมีคำบอกด้วยเช่น ในหมู่ หรือ ในกลุ่ม......นี้ (among……..) หรือ ในประเภทนี้ “In the…..”, ของ..... “of the….” หรือ เท่าที่เคยเห็นมา ซึ่งตรงกับภาษาอังกฤษว่า “ประธาน + กริยา has / have + กริยาช่อง 3” เช่น I’ve ever seen, watches, etc. หรือ He has ever seen / watched. เป็นต้น
ตัวอย่าง:
Somchai is the tallest boy in the classroom.
สมชายเป็นเด็กที่สูงที่สุดในห้อง ใช้สำนวน in the classroom
Bangkok is the most polluted and crowded city in Thailand.
กรุงเทพเป็นเมืองที่มีมลพิษเยอะที่สุดและแออัดที่สุดในประเทศไทย
ใช้สำนวน in + คำนาม ในการเปรียบเทียบที่มากกว่าสอง
The Terminator is the most impressive action film I’ve ever seen.
หนังเรื่อง The Terminator เป็นหนังบู๊ที่น่าประทับใจมากที่สุดเท่าที่เคยดูมา
ใช้ (has / have + V 3)
ข้อสังเกต : ใช้สำนวน “in (the)” กับคำนามเอกพจน์ เช่น
He is the most important person in the world.
เขาเป็นคนที่สำคัญที่สุดในโลก
She is the smartest girl in the classroom.
หล่อนฉลาดที่สุดในห้องเรียน
John is the eldest child in his family.
จอห์นเป็นลูกคนโตในครอบครัว
ส่วนสำนวน “of the” ใช้กับคำนามพหูพจน์เท่านั้น เช่น
Or all the girls, Betty is the prettiest me.
